This hands-on workshop will review the basic principles and steps of root canal treatment; discuss the current and emerging concepts, materials, equipment, and techniques for root canal preparation, irrigation and obturation; and provide evidence-based clinical guidance for dentists to meet today’s challenges in root canal treatment and achieve a more predictable treatment outcome. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants should be able to: 1. Understand the impact of changes in file design and metal treatment on instrument properties and their clinical performance; understand the characteristics and advantages of reciprocating vs. rotary files. 2. Describe the indications and clinical protocols of commonly used new NiTi file systems. 3. Become familiar with commonly used active irrigation systems. 4. Understand the properties and clinical applications of bioceramic sealers. 5. Become proficient in the bioceramic sealer-based single-cone technique.
